ZING - ZANG- ZOOM

Tonight I went with a friend from law school (Donald) to the circus!!! I know Matt and I had a date night at the circus in C'ville in Dec., but this was an entirely different and BRAND new show! This one was titled ZING - ZANG - ZOOM and added a lot, I mean a LOT of magic into the circus!!! Although the disappearance of a elephant wasn't super impressive, the appearance of a tiger up in the air still stumps me!!! This circus also had a pretty cohesive theme - that was the good guy, Alex (the ring master/magician) and the bad guy Mr. Gravity - and Donald's favorite Mrs. Leviosity! Ha! Anyways, it was all about how gravity can't stop a circus - because things that happen at the circus defy even gravity!!! Although I will say the clowns in C'ville (well one in particular) is still the most funny clown I've ever seen but tonight's acts were something else...First, there were Zebras!!! I don't think I've ever seen zebra's at the circus!!! Then there was this one pony/horse that well didn't so much want to be in the ring!! Ha! Then the elephants...now I know the pictures show 9 but in total there were 11 (that's right...11) elephants in the arena!!! CRAZY! And when the tigers jumped over their masters crotch, well let's just say, I hope he wasn't planning on starting a family! Ha! Ha! Donald really enjoy the dogs as well - there were all different kinds and they were hilarious! The two guys on the rings were a scary, just like C'ville! But man the aerobatics were phenomenal...it was like there were on a ship and kind of felt a little cirq-de-sole...anyways...great show as always, and should I be surprised? Probably not since they are known as THE GREATEST SHOW ON EARTH!!!

Sidenote: I'm sure most of you are wondering why my slight obsession with the circus.  Well, you can thank my fantastic grandparents...they used to take Robyn and I every January to the BJCC for the circus! I want to make sure that legacy continues, because for some reason it makes me feel a little closer to those days - you know when life's hardest decision was to get a snow cone with tiger cup or cotton candy with clown hat.  So thank you Grams and Papere for showing me how to love the greatest show on earth!!!

THE EAGLES!!!!

Last night I went with Robby and James (two great friends from law school) to see the Eagles play at the BJCC.  Now let me first state, I didn't really have a clue who the Eagles were before last night.  I was nervous that I wouldn't know any of the songs, except for Hotel California (which was the 3rd song).  However, James told me that I would recognize them when they started singing!!!!  Man oh man he was sooooo right!

The concert was one of the best I have ever seen - these guys have some of the best harmonization that I have EVER heard!!! They rocked the house!!!!

Glenn Frey - HILARIOUS! Awesome vocals!
Don Henley - FANTASTIC! Fantastic vocals and rocked the drums!
Joe Walsh - perhaps the best guitarist i have ever seen - WICKED!
Tim Schmit - really long hair - but SWEET on bass!

There were so many songs they sang that I 1) LOVE and 2) had no idea were the EAGLES!!! Additionally they rocked out for over 3 hours?!?!?! Can you believe that!!!! Such a great Saturday night!!

Thanks James and Robby for a great concert!!!

Good Old Fashioned Girls Only Slumber Party!!!

Yesterday was a very interesting day....First, my parents were still staying at my apartment as they flew out this morning to visit my oldest sister Kimberly and her family for two days and then the twin for two days before flying back here to B'ham....anyways, they were up and out of the house early to head to Gadsden for some appointments and I left with them to head to the gym.  After the gym I went to class - federal courts, where I sounded really intelligent - seriously! That is where the normalcy of my day pretty much stopped and went right to AWESOME!

I left school and headed to Hilton Garden Inn and Suites where Barbara and Abby had just arrived!!! They were in town for a doctors appointment for Abby - a specialist that she was directed from where they live.  So after hanging at the hotel it was off to the doctor's appointment - and well, besides the doctor being super fantastic and down-to-earth, the doctor's office wasn't so fantastic...poor Abby was just trying to take a nap and then she had blood drawn (p.s. at this point i had tears in my eyes - i swear sometimes i don't know how parents do it!)...anyways, then it was off to Chili's for dinner with Abby, Barbara, my Mom, my Dad, and me...(i'm getting to the good stuff)....after dinner it was time for....SLUMBER PARTY!!!!!!!!!

Ok, so Abby might possibly have been exhausted and sporting a rockin' fever - but man did we have a good time...It was really nice to hang out with Barbara and Abby. I'm one lucky girl - getting to see my family all the time....definitely something I am going to miss in the near future, but until then hopefully there will be much more slumber parties!!!!!

Speaking of slumber parties - Matt had his own this week too.  Ok, well, I'm not sure he would call it a slumber party, but let's just go with it! Ha! Anyways, the team travelled to Blacksburg, VA to take on ACC rival the Virginia Tech Hokies tonight.  I am proud of those Hoos as they added another W to the column and another ACC win!!! Way to go Hoos! I'm also stoked because in the brackets (as ESPN has them right now) it places UVA's first round game in Chattanooga, TN (aka driving distance from me!!!)....I know this can change, but between fantastic slumber parties, an ACC win, and a game in driving distance - life is rockin' this week!!!!!

National Holiday...Day Off...I think not!

So, today might have been a national holiday, but that doesn't mean it wasn't work work work for Matt and I.  He has had a busy day at work getting ready to take on Virginia Tech later Wednesday, while I've been busy making more resume packets - 30 more (that's 63 total)! Speaking of, I've heard back from 3 firms so far - and although they are not hiring, it's good to know my letters are getting to them and firms are responding...additionally, each attorney that has responded has been exceptionally nice and encouraging!

So, here's hoping everyone had either a productive work day for their national holiday or an exceptionally relaxing one - which I think secretly Matt and I both would've LOVED more! Ha!

Whirlwind Weekends...

Well, as I let you know before, both Matt and I were on the road this past weekend - however, we are both now in our respective homes, safe, sound, and exhausted!

Matt went to Chapel Hill, N.C. to take on the number 2 ranked team.  Although UVA put up a good effort, the final score had UNC over UVA 103-74.  The girls are learning from the game and moving on to another ACC opponent this week, Virginia Tech. Go Hoos Go!

My weekend was spent in St. Louis, Missouri.  Let me rephrase that - my weekend was spent FREEZING MY BUTT OFF in St. Louis, Missouri!!! (Case and point - 1. my car read 6 degrees on drive up and that is what it was when I parked in their driveway...2. it snowed) I drove up Thursday night, spent Friday morning hanging with my nephews (errands: bakery, toy store, pet store, McDonalds, Tinkerbell) and then helping my sister and her husband get there house ready to go on the market.  Then Saturday was the big b-day party at the local firehouse! So cool for the kiddos - fire safety video, tour, firemen in uniforms, and ride in the fire truck complete with sounds and lights!!! I've got a picture of Logan blowing out his 5 candles on his b-day cupcake and me and Carter hanging out by the trucks! I left Sunday morning at 2 am to get back to B'ham to welcome some house-guests...my parents. My parents will be staying with me until I take them to the airport Wednesday! I love company!

Although I'm off of school today I'm working on more resumes packets and Matt is already off to work with early film meeting.  Here's hoping everyone has a fantastic week!!!

By Bus and by car...

Well, Matt and I are both on the road again this week.  Today I will take off for St. Louis, MO to spend the weekend with my sister and her family as Matt takes off for Chapel Hill, NC where tomorrow the number (12) UVA Hoos will battle the number (2) UNC Tarheels.  I will be enjoying a 5 year old birthday party for my nephew Logan at a firehouse while Matt will be in the year's second ACC competition!  We hope everyone has a fantastic weekend - and if traveling, safe travels.

New Looks...

So, there have been some changes with the blogs appearance lately...First I asked Meredith, if the blog could get a new look - then a day later I ask her to change it from the new look to another new look for Valentine's Day (ironically, an idea I stole from another friend named Meredith).  You know, it's never too early to start thinking about Valentine's Day - even if you and your special someone are 9 hours away from each other! Ha! Ha!  I know, I'm frustrating asking to change the layout twice in two days - but look how AMAZING it looks!!!! I absolutely love it! So thank you so much Meredith for such a phenomenal layout!!!

Genius...Again, I know!!

So, I posted after I booked (aka Scholar of Merit...aka highest grade in class) Admiralty last summer that I was a genius, well, just in case you you were wondering the accuracy of that statement, you can put your doubts aside.  My genius-ness has been confirmed yet again! (Wipe that shocked look off your face!!!)  I found out today that I booked (aka Scholar of Merit...aka highest grade in class) International Intellectual Property!!! And for you doubters (in case you are still out there) - it was a different professor and one that I had never had before! Anyways, I'm really excited because I throughly enjoyed  my subject material in this class - whether patents protection on pharmaceuticals should override a health-care crisis such as AIDS in sub-saharan Africa.  I know I probably just lost everyone right there - boring right? So wrong - it was interesting and enjoyable to learn! Anyways, just wanted to let you all know about my genius-ness!! Ha! Ha! I hope everyone is having as intellectual of a day as I am!!!

1-0 in ACC play!!!

WA-HOO-WAH!!!!
WAY TO GO HOOS!!!!!
Today the girls took on Wake Forest in their first ACC game!!!
The girls WON (as if I had any doubts!!) Anyways, that makes the team 14-2 for the season
and 1-0 in the ACC!!!!

Additionally, Matt wasn't the only Marlow in attendance at the game! Matt's mom and sister drove in from Bristow (Northern Virginia - suburbs of D.C.) to watch the game!  I'm glad someone else in the family got to see those Cavs in action this year! The three of them finished the night with dinner at Outback Steakhouse! What a day!!!!

Attorney For Hire...more appropriately Hopefully, Soon-to-Be Attorney for Hire....

So the above picture probably doesn't look like much, but it was a lot of work for me yesterday. I'll start at the beginning....I don't do New Year's Resolutions, but I told my self that I have got to get organized this year. I've got too much to do in the next few months so it's time to get it together....well, on my "to do" list for January was to get out resume/cover letter/references packets to some law firms in Charlottesville. I decided to devote this Saturday to it! So - there you have it....33 that's right...33 packets went out yesterday at 5 pm (woo-hoo for UPS Stores)!!! I don't know if this will lead to a job, or even an interview...in fact, it could lead to nothing...but at least I'm getting my name out there and hopefully a foot into someone's door!

"Happy Anniversary"

This is how Matt started our conversation this morning - we normally talk every morning on his way into work.....and it is because just 7 months from now it will be OUR WEDDING DAY!!!! Seeing as how it is only 8:30 - this time in 7 months the guys will probably still be snoozing and the girls will be spaing-it-up! Ha! Well, it's definitely exciting to think that it is soooooo close!!! Today however, Matt will be working while I will be going to Oak Mountain to hike with Molly and a friend from law school! No matter what you are up to today, I hope everyone has a great -7 months anniversary!!!!

Smells like...ROSES!

So, today is my last day of my first week of my last semester!!! Get that? To sum it up, I graduate in MAY! Woo-hoo!!! Anyways, all week (spawning since returning from Christmas), I've had a crazy and stubborn little head cold. Basically, I cough - a LOT! It doesn't hurt my chest to cough, it doesn't hurt my throat, I just cough - so hard it makes my eyes red and watery and keeps me up at night. Bummer. Apparently, the head cold is resistant to tylenol head cold medicine and nyquil. So, I've now taken to allergy medicine and should it keep up past this weekend I will result to actual antibiotics! However, there's no better medicine (so the card says as well) than flowers - beautiful, fantastic, super flowers - sent with love from Matt to me!!! So, here's hoping that head cold or no head cold, everyone has a minute today to stop and smell the roses! :-)

Goodbye 2008, Hello 2009!

The New Year is here! Woo-hoo! I couldn't be more thrilled to get 2008 behind me - it was fantastic getting engaged to Matt, but other than that it was a really long year! Matt and I, although we've been together over the past two New Year's we haven't actually spent them together physically. This year was similar to last year - He was in Charlottesville, after the Christmas invitational and preparing for a game against the Lady Bulldogs (UGA) and I was in Sandestin, hanging with my family at the condo. Matt called me at midnight his time and I called him at midnight my time - neither one of us went out (so not my typical new year style...sorry Robyn) - I didn't even see the ball drop....sad, I know. Oh well, I wanted to make sure that everyone knew that not only did Matt and I wish each other a Happy New Year, we also want to extend the warm wishes to our families and friends - so HAPPY NEW YEAR everyone!

Matt and I are both really excited about 2009...here are some reasons why...

1) THE WEDDING!!!! (Aug. 9th, 2009)
2) THE HONEYMOON!!!! (Aug. 11th, 2009 - if we come back)
3) GRADUATION FROM LAW SCHOOL!! (May 16th, 2009)
4) THE BAR (ok, not necessarily taking it, but hopefully passing it!!) (results in mid-October 2009)
5) MY PARENTS NEW HOUSE (remodeling to start soon - and then move-in! so happy for them! hello Florida)
6) KATHARINE (Matt's sister) GRADUATES FROM COLLEGE! (sometime close to May 16th)
7) ST. LOUIS CARDINALS (to be World Series Champs again....you know it can happen)
8) KELLY MOVING TO VIRGINIA!! (May 2009)
9) OUR NEW HOUSE (we are looking for a 3 bedroom 2 bath house in C'ville - so if you know of anything coming available, let us know)
10) DID I MENTION THE WEDDING AND HONEYMOON?!?!?!?!
