Work..Work...Work...and a little bit of Play!

Since returning from Colorado, Matt and I have been busy with work. After arriving back home on that Saturday night (Jan. 2) we spent Sunday picking up Molly from her kennel, bathing her, Kelly doing laundry and clean, and Matt going to work....and we finished the night with date night at Bonefish grill. However, once Monday came, it was back to business as usual.

Kelly and Matt both spent the week working. In fact, I missed my first UVA women's home game on Monday, Jan. 4. The UVA Women's basketball team took on St. Bonaventure on Monday, Jan. 4, winning 72-64. Matt was then headed out of town for UVA's first ACC game against Florida State. Unfortunately, FSU got the better of UVA 50-68. Matt returned home and finished up the week of work at JPJ in C'ville. Unfortunately, he arrived back home with the beginning of a wicked cold that he is still battling.

Kelly's friend Diana came down for Saturday and they had a great girl's day that included pedicures, shopping (75% off ornaments at pier one...whoop...whoop), chatting, and wii! It was great to hang out with a girlfriend. Diana left early Sunday morning to head back to D.C. while Kelly and Matt headed to work. Matt was home shortly after heading into work feeling much worse. Although he thought he felt better Sunday night when Kelly got home at 9, it was apparently, he was not better at all.

So, today has been an attempt at getting Matt to feel better before he had to head into work for another ACC game tonight - UVA v. Maryland. We will both be at JPJ tonight...one to cheer on the Hoos and to take care of Matt and the other working. Here's hoping this week there is less sickness, less work, and much more play than just one day!

New Year's in COLORADO!

Matt and I have returned safely from an absolutely amazing time in Denver, Colorado. Matt dropped me off at the airport on Thursday (Dec. 31) at like 4 in the morning...although I was ill with a stomach bug I was super excited to see my twin sister Robyn and meet her boyfriend John. However, at check-in I found out the plane was delayed...and then back on schedule...(or so they said)...after sitting on the plane for almost 2 hours, getting de-iced 4 times, watching a de-icer truck catch on fire...we finally took off and landed in Charlotte, N.C.!!! However, my connection to Denver took off without me from Charlotte, the same time I was trying to get there! However, that turned out..AMAZING!! And by amazing I mean being bumped up to FIRST CLASS on the next direct flight that took off less than an hour after landing in Charlotte - SCORE! So after a few more hours in the air...I landed in DENVER!!! Waiting for me at baggage claim was Robyn and John!!!!! It was so awesome to see my sister and to meet her boyfriend John!!! We started chatting and we were off to lunch, then their house, then to the hotel in Boulder, CO.

Matt and the team drove later that morning from Charlottesville to Washington, D.C. to fly out of Dulles. They arrived later in the day and we met them at the hotel in Boulder. Robyn and John stayed at the same hotel as Matt and I. That afternoon I got to hang out with Robyn and John while Matt had to go to practice with the team. We picked him up from Colorado's arena and headed to the Melting Pot for New Year's Eve dinner! It was so fun! We loved hanging out with Robyn and John...and Robyn had prepared for the night with tiaras for the ladies, top hats for the men, shakers, horns, and 2010 eye glasses....so fun!!! Then our plans were to head to a piano bar in Boulder. However, I asked if we could bail on it...I was exhausted from traveling and still not feeling well...so we went back to the hotel, changed into jammies, and headed to Robyn and John's room to watch the ball drop (or so we thought)....

I fell asleep (or as we Wallace's call it - "rested my eyes")....within 10 minutes of getting to their room...so at 11:30 pm (Mountain Time)...Matt and I called it a night and headed back to our room....(Does it count that it was already 2010 in our time zone?!?!?)....Denver with Robyn and John was such a great way to ring in the New Year....Not only our first new year's eve as newlyweds...but our first new year's eve together EVER!!!!

The next day I sat with Matt for team breakfast...and then he had stuff to do with the team during the morning...Robyn and John were able to spend another night at the hotel...so the three of us went out in the morning and then picked Matt up for a walk (cold walk) around Pearl Street in Boulder and then lunch at the Cheesecake Factory. Then Matt was back to work and I hung out with Robyn and John. That night, when Matt got back to the hotel we all went to Hacienda Colorado for dinner and back to the hotel for a fun game night! And what I mean by that is that Robyn and John kicked our butts at Cranium!!! The next morning it was shopping with Robyn and John while Matt had shoot around and pre-game with the team. Then back to the hotel to get things packed up...a few games of mexican train dominoes (which Matt and I have already purchased here and played 3 games...we are addicted)....it was time for lunch at Qudoba and off to Colorado's arena for the UVA women's basketball team's game.

We sat front row from the court (then moved second row to see over players heads...those girls are tall)...Robyn, John, and I were in our UVA gear and were on Fox Sports Rocky Mountains a LOT!!!!!! We had a great time cheering on the Hoos to their win (especially when the lead was touch and go)!!! Then it was time to say goodbye....board the team bus...head to Denver International Airport...and catch the private jet home....

We landed at 12:45 am on Sunday....to FREEZING 19 degree weather!!! After grabbing the bags, it was off to home to unpack, start a load of laundry, and finally get to bed by 2 am! Only to have our alarms set for 8:30 so we can just get up and go get Molly from being boarded!!! Then it was a day bathing Molly (Matt came and helped), lots of laundry/cleaning, work for Matt, date night at Bonefish, and mexican train dominoes..

Now this week it is back to work for both Matt and I...but we just wanted to wish everyone a Happy New Year! We hope that you were able to welcome the New Year in with as much fun and family as we did! Goodbye 2009, Hello 2010!
