Announcement: You may call me.... Kelly J. Wallace, Esquire or Dr. Kelly J. Wallace

So it has been a whirlwind 5 days!!! Molly and I left Charlottesville Wednesday at 4am ET and arrived in Birmingham around 1pm CT for the beginning of graduation festivities! That afternoon after lunch with my parents and a little shopping, it was back to the hotel for a early night to bed. Or so I thought. Really, my dad and I had a little problem sleeping, so after walking Molly several times we finally gave up on the idea of sleep and he went to do a crossword and I was off to the gym. By the time I got back to the hotel it was time to get ready for the day. My mom surprised me with a Mom and Kelly day full of manicures, pedicures, getting the A/C in my car fixed, and the dog park! We had a great time! Dinner was with my parents and Ethylea at Texas Roadhouse - yummy! It was great to see Ethylea again and hang out! Then Friday was here....the day of members of my family arriving...specifically my older sister Barbara, her husband Eric, their daughter Abby, and my twin sister Robyn. After a morning at the gym, taking Molly to the dog park, it was time to go get Robyn at the airport! Dinner that night was at the hotel - Jim 'N Nicks down by the pool. That night after putting Abby to bed we all played Apples to Apples - it was AWESOME! Of course Dad and Eric cheated, but it was so much fun!!! I had a blast! The Saturday morning (in a torrential downpour), the men headed to a golf shop, Robyn and Barbara off to get their nails done, and Mom, Abby, and I to pick up my free graduation cake (won a gift card to the place at law prom) and lunch. Then it was time for Robyn, Mom, and I to head to Samford University for the ceremony. I had to be there early and they volunteered to go with me to get seats reserved for my family. So off we went. Due to the weather, the Cumberland tradition of marching across campus lead by bagpipes was ruled out. So we met in the lounge of the Wright Center and before I knew it we were lining up alphabetically and proceeding in. Then 60 minutes later - I had a hood on, a diploma in hand, and was proceeding out. The family and I went over to the reception at the law school for some pictures and to see some fellow graduates. After that it was back to the hotel to chill for 40 minutes or so before our dinner reservations. We ate dinner at Ruth's Chris. After dinner it was time to say my goodbyes and pack up. I left Birmingham at 3am CT this morning and arrived back in Charlottesville at 1:30 pm ET.

Like I said a whirlwind weekend!

However, with that being said I just want to take a minute to thank everyone that has supported me through the past 3 years. I couldn't have accomplished my JD without your love and support. Especially my family - my loving parents and three sisters and their families. Thank you all for always being there for me and helping me. I'd also like to thank the individuals who made the 3 years at Cumberland worth it - Robby, James, Scully, Anna, Donald, Bob, and Oliver. Sure there were other individuals, but these made such an impression on my life and I couldn't be more thankful to have them in it.

So, graduation is over. What's next? Want to guess? It is similar to school - so similar it is scary! A two month long review course that starts at 9 am tomorrow!!!! So I'm off to bed and after the gym tomorrow ready to begin the journey of preparing for the Virginia Bar.

What are you, a perpetual student? Do you graduate form Barbari too? Another gathering? Another party? Wow...which I was a JD...motherhood never got all those parties...though I have to admit, Gramercy" has been to her share of them during "R"....on to the Bar with flying colors!
