Absence on the blog...

I just wanted everyone to know that there will be an absence of blogging for probably the next week or maybe longer....

Why you might ask...

Well that is because I only have 3 classes left in my journey through law school!!!!

That's right - THREE!!!!! Today I have Federal Courts and tonight Trademarks...then tomorrow Bioethics!!!

WOO-HOO!!!!!! Then I'm done - ok, well, kind of done!

Finals start Friday - (except for the one I have due tomorrow at noon)....

So although I'll be either stuck in the library for the week or the trial/moot courtroom, here's hoping everyone has an AWESOME week!!!!!!

DMB

Apparently I am not the only one who got to see a great music filled show this week. Although musicals are not really Matt's most favorite thing, as we speak, Matt is sitting (according to a text i got) "dead center...lower level...amazing seats" in John Paul Jones Area watching the Dave Matthews Band. DMB is one of Matt's most favorite bands, so I'm really excited for him. I know he is having a phenomenal time and he might even get the chance go backstage! Wouldn't that be awesome? Seriously some great perks with working there and knowing everyone else that works there!! I'll update more when I hear from Matt.

Here's hoping everyone got the opportunity to listen to some awesome music this week!

I won the WICKED lottery!

So, last week my friend Jennifer told me about the lottery. I know what you are thinking - Who doesn't know about the lottery??!?!?! Well, this was different, it was the Broadway lottery!! Apparently the show RENT started it, and now almost all shows have it. The idea is that you get a chance to "win" (and by "win" I mean pay at a VERY low rate) tickets for shows. Currently WICKED is playing in Birmingham. I was going to go with my mother, but we both decided it was too expensive. Well Jennifer and I went yesterday to attempt the lottery.

Almost 60 people showed up - it was crazy! You put your names in a box and she draws out 10 names. Each name gets to get 2 tickets for $25 a piece and the seats are guaranteed in the Orchestra section! So name 1, not me or Jennifer....Name 2...not me or Jennifer....Continue this through name 9...So basically we were considering buying the nosebleeds and going anyways...when she is about to pull out name 10....Jennifer is chanting "say Kelly Wallace...say Kelly Wallace...say Kelly Wallace"....and oh my gosh, the woman goes "Kelly Wallace." I of course reply "Who?" where as Jennifer promptly screams to all "HOLY SHIT!!!!" So off we go to get our 2 $25 tickets in the orchestra section.

Jennifer and I then headed to dinner at the Sheraton (with members of the cast who were eating there)...and it was OFF TO THE SHOW!

Things I would like to say about the show:
1) WE WERE IN THE 2nd ROW!!! That's right - next to people who paid $165 per ticket!
2) The show was PHENOMENAL!!!!!!
3) The woman who played Elphaba (the Wicked Witch) was AMAZING!
4) Did I mention the show was PHENOMENAL!
5) We definitely hung out after the show at the Stage door.
6) We definitely got our Playbills signed and pictures.
7) AWESOME AWESOME NIGHT!!!!!

Happy Easter!

Happy Easter!!!! (I know we are a little late - but well, better late than never!)

Apparently for Matt and I this Easter was about seeing our fathers. I spent my Easter hanging out with my Dad in Florida and Matt was able to enjoy dinner with his Dad over the holiday weekend.

I hope everyone else was able to spend time with family over the holiday weekend!

Goodbye Spring Training....Hello Regular Season!

It's finally here....the best season in the entire year...BASEBALL SEASON! In case you already don't know, Matt and I are both pretty big baseball fans - albeit for different teams. This year, I'm not sure if we will be able to see our teams battle each other like last year, but we will both be following them respectively.

I started the season watching Gameday during my Trademarks class. Although the Cardinals fell to the Pirates Monday night, they came back last night and dominated 9-3....inlcuding homers by Pujols, Duncan, and my personal favorite MOLINA!!!!

Matt's team didn't have the best opener either, losing to Florida and losing again the next game, but hopefully they will have a good season.

Other news: CC Sabathia - was it really worth the move to the Yankees? For the worst starting pictching you've had since 2007? (And I liked him on the Brewers)......Cubs fell last night to the Astros...LOVE THAT! Oh, and Manny Ramierz pop-up fly to first baseman......GLORIOUS!

Working Hard...

Well it's been another week, and we've both been working hard!

Matt had a full week of work and then headed out for my favorite city, "The Lou" on Friday for the Final Four. Since there, he gave a presentation and has been mingling with all others in attendance. Of course right now he is watching some basketball with the rest of the UVA staff, and he heads home tomorrow (unfortunately before the Cardinals home opener).

I've had a full week of classes and the gym, but mostly I've been focusing this week on packing up my apartment! I started a while ago, but this week I really hit the ground running. I figure this packing (moving out of the state) meant SPRING CLEANING! It started with my closets, and ended with 12 bags of clothes taken to Goodwill and 1 bag of shoes! Then it went on to the office and that resulted in 4 bags of shredded paper and a return of paper/file folders to Office Max. Now this week is a 16 page paper, celebrating Easter with my dad and Molly, and of course more packing!

Whirlwind Weekend...

So, this weekend was a whirlwind...and it actually began Thursday. My mom was in town with me because I had a minor surgery and well the rest of that day was a blur - probably because the night before was such horrible storms, I think that I might have slept for a total of 2 hours!! Then Friday, my sister Barbara, her daughter Abby, my mom, and Ethylea (a great family friend) were scheduled to meet at 6 pm for dinner for at the Cheesecake Factory. Now although I was sad to see Virginia lose to California, it meant that Matt could come visit me this weekend - and most importantly meet members of my family he has never met.

So I "surprised" Barbara and Abby with having Matt meet us at dinner! Matt brought Abby her very own UVA basketball t-shirt! Now all the kiddos have one - Logan, Carter, and Abby rockin' some sweet UVA gear! Dinner was delicious and Matt and I got to have some quality time with Abby while we took her for a walk while waiting on desert to arrive. It was a fun night. The next morning was breakfast at the hotel that my mom, Barbara, and Abby and then while they went swimming we went and worked on our registry at Bed, Bath, and Beyond - (Sidenote: This is what I mean by "worked on"....I changed my mind again, and thought we should add some color to our selections...and Matt well, he enjoyed if for oh, about the first 10 minutes...but we were out within an hour!! Woo-hoo!)....then it was back home to rest and so Matt could enjoy some Alabama BBQ for lunch. Yesterday afternoon Matt held down the fort with Molly while I joined my mom, Barbara, and Abby for Disney Playhouse Live at the BJCC (the reason Barbara and Abby were in town). It was actually a pretty good show - considering I'm a lot older than the targeted audience. I think the best was watching Abby's reactions....She was mesmorized by the show...I'm pretty sure she didn't blink once!!!!! And she would clap and dance. Did I mention that both she and my sister were dressed like Minnie Mouse? Abby wore her halloween costume from last year - Minnie Mouse...and Barbara had a more sophisticated Minnie Mouse outfit. I even attempted my best Minnie Mouse appearance wearing Abby's ears and she well, didn't so much love them yesterday!

After that it was back to the house to hang out with Matt - meaning more basketball and Jason's Deli for dinner. Today Matt is headed back to Charlottesville, and I'm attempting to finish homework and pack up the rest of my apartment!! I think both of us are ready to be within minutes of each other rather than hours!

So, as my mom, sister, niece, and Matt are on the road - Here's hoping everyone had a great weekend and a safe trip home!
